Display Hours Above Twenty Four

There are many instances when you may need to add multiple time fields together. Excel will misbehave when doing this if left alone. For example:

23:00 hours + 2:00 hours will give you the result 1:00. This doesnt’ work for most uses. Here is how to change the formatting of a cell to display correctly when adding times.

1. Right click the cell to format.
2. From the menu select Format Cells
3. In the “Category box” choose custom
4. In the “Type” box enter this:
[hh]:mm

5. Click OK
