Dual Monitor Excel Tricks?

geforceAnybody have favorite tips or tricks for using a dual monitor setup with Excel?

I just purchased a basic video card (PNY Verto GeForce FX 5500(89$ at Best Buy)) that handles two monitors. After an hour long struggle I’m up and running with a 17″ and an old beat up 15″ monitor (my next upgrade is replacing the 15″).

I’ll post if I find anything unusually different using Excel in a Dual Monitor setup. After only a few minutes I found you can make an extremely large chart with two screens, useless:

And a very practical use,
Visual Basic Editor on the left screen, Workbook on the right:

vbescreen

Dual backgrounds look like fun. I also see Aaron Blood has a few VBA routines for a dual setup. Off to climb the learning curve.

Can't get the tutorial to work for you? Need help with your code?

i’ve been using dual for about a year at work, with a tft and a lappy. i normally have the VBE on the TFT and the worksheet on the lappy.

Brillo for debugging ad F8ing through code.

I have mine set up as screen one and screen two, then i can max each screen to the dispay and move between them easy.

Sometimes the open dialog can be a bit of a pain (have to nav with keys, as mouse doesn’t work) and the control toolbox jumps on to the second screen as well.

I have used the 2 screens to fill in the VBE with all the tool box/watch windows etc, by streghing it across the 2 screens, but genrally can’t be asked.

Recently when using SB. FormFum Class and minizing the user form i’ve been looking around wondering why excel wont response – becasue the form is min’ed down the bottom of the other screen – this can happen in vearious Apps, which can be a bit of a thing to get used to.

Over all though i would’t be without a dual set up, not for coding anyway – very very usefull.

    ross,
there are a ton of various setups with this card, I haven’t decided on a favorite yet,,, the Stretch dual screen is cool, it changes the resolution to 2560 or something…….. I then have the option of docking windows to each screen. It also has “memory” of where I last opened something, so toolbars, msgbox’s etc. seem to be popping up where I want them. I’m pretty busy today so I haven’t had much time to experiment.

    Jon,
I think you got another MVP awarded today, if so Congrats ….
I’m not familiar with Yes music, I did look it up… no High res shots though, haha
