I am trying to create a list that recognizes the description and automatically inputs the description and price. for instance:

description qty description price total

2x4x8 0 ea 2.49 =sum(b2*d2)
baseboard 0 ln ft 1.40 same as above

i want it to automatically recognize everytime i put baseboard in that the description is ln ft and the price is 1.40.

how do i do this

Have a problem, I need code in Excel that will allow me to populate a cell that will meet the following criteria- has to do with student grades.
Will use student scores-if total score= 0, then student needs A to pass
= .25, then student needs B to pass
                                      = .50, student needs C to pass
                                      = .75, student needs D to pass
                                      =1, student is "OK"
would you use an "if" statement or what?
THANKS!

I want to be able to add a negative number in excel, for example, -5 (C1) + 3 (C2) = -2 (C3). I tried adding in the function bar: -(C1) + (C3) = (C3). It did not work... How can I add this formula in excel? Any suggestions?

I need some advice. I work for a company that publishes manuals and every time there is a minor change for each of the programs, I need to use a system to keep track so that our writers have access to the most up-to-date info. I have been using excel but its getting unmanageable. I have a keyword search, and I'm building tabs to divide each manual into chapters, but does anyone have ideas?? I'd be open to other programs!

How do I change the labels down a column to labels across a row without cutting and pasting each lable separately? I have done this before, but have forgotten how!
