There is no need to manually sum your data into subtotals and grand totals. Excel provides a tool to do it for you.
1. Select the range of data (including headers) that you want to add subtotals to
2. On the main menu click Data then SubTotals
3. In the first dropdown box labeled “At each range in”, select the column for your subtotal grouping
4. In the “Use Function” dropdown box, select the type of subtotal (sum for example)
5. Select the subtotals you would like in the “Add subtotal” dropdown box and click OK
